December 18: The Test of Loyalty

Dear Jesus, The devotion for today is crammed full of such wisdom that can radically change all of our lives, yet is tremendously hard to sumbit to the concept that God is not a "machine for blessing men" and You are not "a Worker among workers," because that is what most Christians have been taught all their lives. The longer I walk with You, the longer I realize that it is only by absorbing this important aspect of your personlity that we can truly recognize Your Almighty Power! When we have the idea that we do work for You, our efforts by definition would be so limited because we have such little power. Yet if we are so loyal to You and accept that You engineer circumstances, even if they are painful, then You can do Your work through us, and we can have the awesome privilege of seeing Your unlimited power in action. Help all of us to be willing to let God use us under the same conditions that He used You, His own Son -- that He can count on us for extreme service, with no complaining on our parts, and no explanations on His.
