December 22: The Drawing of the Father

Dear Jesus, I pray that the vagueness of today's lesson will not confuse any of the children of my heart. Actually, I love that Oswald Chambers chose to write in this way because it is much more likely to hit home to us in whatever situation we currently find ourselves. Some of the children of my heart are very intelligent and struggle with submitting to Someone when they are so used to leaning on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). This refusal to trust in You, but only in their own understanding is what hinders them from being drawn to the Father. Please help them to "stake all blindly... to will to believe even though this can never be done without a violent effort on their part to disassociate from the old ways of looking at thngs, and by putting themselves right over onto You." It is only after they have established a personal relationship with You that they will "begin to get an intelligent appreciation and understanding of the wonder of the transaction."
