November 23: Distraction of Antipathy

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/11/1123.html

Dear Jesus, Chamber's words were exactly what I needed to hear today. Hopefully, they also ministered to the children of my heart. Please teach all of us to be the compassionate soldiers of the cross that You intend for us to be, striving to live according to Your instructions while helping others whenever we can, yet not becoming overwhelmed in that task. Without Your help, that is an impossible assignment.

Lately my "Christian temper" has definitely been "the enemy that penetrates right into the soul and distracts my mind from God." There are so many needs in my circle of family and friends right now that it becomes overwhelming at times. Please forcefully remind me when I start to obsess that You are the only one who can do anything to fix these problems, and that my job is simply to pray about them and then RELEASE them to You!!! Please teach all of us to "refuse to be swamped with the cares of this life!"

Especially teach us how to specifically pray for the loved ones who aren't completely sold out to You. Chambers really nails it when he says that it is easy to "allow the discernment to turn into criticism." Rebuke us if we judge, then restore us to a right relationship with You before we continue our intercessions.
