July 20: Dependent on God's Presence

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0720.html

Always remember this: "If our common-sense decisions are not His order, He will press through them and check; then we must be quiet and wait for the direction of HIs presence."

July 19: Master Over the Believer

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0719.html

Pray that the Lord will place someone in your path who can model for you the freedom of obedience. "Obedience is only possible between equals; it is the relationship between father and son, bot between master and servant."

July 18: The Mystery of Believing

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0718.html

Obedience. It seems rational to us that if we obey God MOST of the time, He won't mind too much the times when we disobey. But Chambers is so right when he says, "Woe be to me if when I see Him I say -- I will not. He will never insist that I do, but I have begun to sign the death warrant of the Son of God in my soul. ...I am backing away from the re-creating power of His Redemption."

July 17: The Miracle of Belief

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0717.html

Hmmm. This lesson points us to the fact that it is not our human capabilites that ever draw people to Jesus, therefore we shouldn't lean upon our talents or dispair our failings. If we totally focu on Jesus, He will do all the work!

July 16: The Notion of Divine Control

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0716.html

If you suffer from fear at all, pay special attention to this reading. I am frequently asked why I am not afraid. It is because I have PRACTICED trusting God and have found Him to be faithful every single time. "Notion your mind with the idea that God is there...then when you are in difficulties it is a s easy as breathing to remember - Why, my Father knows all about it!"

July 15: The Point of Spiritual Honor

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0715.html

Like this lessons implies, the more you develop a relationship with Jesus, the more you will find your self praying for others and the less for yourself.

July 14: The Account with Persecution

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0714.html

Always before when I have read this lesson, I have focused on the fact that "every time I insist upon my rights, I hurt the Son of God." Today, however, another point seemed to jump off the page: "You cannot imitate the disposition of Jesus; it is either there or it is not." May God help us all be more like our Jesus!

July 13: The Price of Vision

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://myutmost.org/07/0713.html

On my! I have found this to be so true: "Over and over again God has to remove our friends in order to bring Himself in their place, and that is where we faint and fail and get discouraged." The good news is that it is through those tough times that we get the closest to the Lord.

July 12: The Spiritual Society

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0712.html

Has anyone ever asked you why you choose to be a Christian? Have you ever tried o explain to anyone else why they should be a Christian? Our answers usually focus on what God has done for us and the power that comes from living with Him.

WRONG ANSWER!!!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how closely does this quote reflect the mission of your life?

"My goal is God Himself, not joy nor peace,
Nor even blessing, but Himself, my God."

July 11: The Spiritual Saint

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0711.html

Do you "see everything [you are] dumped down in as the means of securing the knowledge of Jesus Christ?" Never let your motivation be "the realization that something has to be done and I must do it." First, look to see how this situation can help you to know Christ better.

July 10: The Spiritual Sluggard

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0710.html

I have long been concerned that our churches are filled with 'spiritual sluggards'. As Chambers says, "Active work and spiritual activity are not the same thing." Most Christians are overwhelmed "when we come up against injustice and meanness and ingratitude and turmoil" so we retire to our safe churches and fill up our time with church work. May God help us to let Him use us in true spritual activity!!

July 9: The Great Probing

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0709.html

"Dare I really let God be to me all that He says He will be?"

July 8: The Will to Loyalty

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0708.html

"Willis the whole man active. I cannot give up my will, I must exercise it."

July 7: All Noble Things are Difficult

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0707.html

"Do we so appreciate the marvelous salvation of Jesus Christ that we are our utmost for His highest?"

July 5: Don't Calculate Without God

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0705.html

This lesson never mentions the word fear, but the understood command behind every sentence is DO NOT BE AFRAID! Chambers admonishes us to act like this: "Love is not ignorant of the existence of the evil, but it does not take it in as a calculating factor." "You cannot lay up for a rainy day if you are trusting Jesus Christ." We can do neither of those things if we are afraid!!

July 4: One of God's Great Don'ts

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0704.html

I still maintain that only Christians can truly understand the meaning of the contemporary expression "No Fear." As Chambers says, "Resting in the Lord does not depend on external circumstances at all, but on your relationship to God Himself." The next time things get rough and it would be totally natural to worry, CHOOSE to shovel your worries to God and be at peace!

July 3: The Concentration of Personal Sin

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0703.html

"This is always the sign that a man or woman is in the presence of God. There is never any vague sense of sin, but the concentration of sin in some personal particular."

July 2: The Conditions of Discipleship

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0702.html

"...the Christian must be consistent to the life of the Son of God in him, not consistent to hard and fast creeds. Men pour themselves into creeds, and God has to blast them out of their prejudices before they can become devoted to Jesus Christ."

July 1: The Inevitable Penality

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/07/0701.html

"He urged you to come to judgment right away when He convicted you, but you did not; the inevitable process began to work and now you are in prison."
