May 31: God First

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0531.html

May30: "Yes -- But...!"

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0530.html

"Trust entirely in God, and when He brings you to the venture, see that you take it. We act like pagans in a crisis, only one out of a crowd is daring enough to bank his faith in the character of God." Oh, I pray that I will be that one!!!!

May 29: Undisturbed Relationship

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org.05/0529.html

May 28: Unquestioned Revelation

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0528.html

"If anything is a mystery to you and it is coming in between you and God, never look for the explanation in your intellect, look for it in your disposition, it is that which is wrong."

May 27: The Life That Lives

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0527.html

May 26: Think as Jesus Taught

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0526.html

May 25: The Test of Self-Interest

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://myutmost.org/05/0525.html

"God sometimes allows you to get into a place of testing where your own welfare would be the right and proper thing to consider if you were not living a life of faith: but if you are, you will joyfully waive your right and leave God to choose for you."

May 24: The Delight of Despair

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0524.html

May 23: Careful Infidelity

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0523.html

"Don't take the pressure of forethought upon yourself. It is not only wrong to worry, it is infidelity, because worrying means that we do not think that God can look after the practical details of our lives..."

May 22: Now This Explains It

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0522.html ATTENTION!! This reading has probably THE MOST IMPORTANT lesson we can ever learn for complete fulfillment in our Christian lives: "The purpose of God is not to answer our prayers, but by our prayers we come to discern the mind of God..." Psalms says that He 'gives us the desires of our hearts.' It is imperative that we realize what that means -- as we pray He makes our desires to be like His desires. He is not like Santa Claus, waiting to give us every whim that we place on our wish list!!

May 21: Divine Reasonings of Faith

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http:www.myutmost.org/05/0521.html This lesson teaches us that it is the balance in a Christians's life that is important. God first, the cares of this life second, yet giving attention to the right things. "It is one of the severest disciplines of the Christian life to allow the Holy Spirit to bring us into harmony with the teaching of Jesus in these verses."

May 20: The Realm of the Real

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0520.html

"Moods never go by praying, moods go by kicking." The hardest thing for a new Christian is learning to THINK like a Christian; we must learn HOW we are to live from our manual, the Holy Bible, and then we must believe that God will empower us to do what He asks of us. As Ephesians says: "Having done all to stand, STAND!"

May 19: "Out of the Wrick I Rise"

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0519.html "Some extraordinary things happen to a man who holds on to the love of God when the odds are against God's character." It's a trust issue, really. I have learned over the past 45 years that our Lord is COMPLETELY trustworthy at ALL TIMES!

May 18: Careful Unreasonableness

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0518.html

"The people who influence us most are not those who buttonhole us and talk to us, but those who live their lives like the stars in heaven and the lilies in the field, perfectly simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mold us."

May 17: His Ascension and Our Union

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0517.html Wow! This lesson is so deep! I've read it three times this morning and I'm still getting something new from it. We can chew on this statement all day: "Up to the time of the Transfiguration He had exhibited the normal perfect life of a man; from the Transfiguration onwards -- Gethsemane, the Cross, the Resurrection -- everything is unfamiliar to us."

May 16: The Habit of Wealth

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0516.html

"What does it matter if external circumstances are hard? ... No sin is worse than the sin of self-pity, because it obliterates God and puts self-interest upon the throne."

May 15: The Habit of Rising to the Occasion

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0514.html

Today's reading is essential if you really want to experience God's riches to the fullest!! "We are here to submit to His will so that He may work through us what He wants." "It does not matter how it hurts as long as it give God the chance to manifest Himself in your mortal flesh."

I know it is a paradox that is almost unfathomable to choose to submit to painful circumstances in order to obtain true joy and peace, but that's exactly what will happen if we let God lead us!

May 14: The Habit of Enjoying the Disagreeable

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0514.html

Today's lesson is about "No matter how disagreeable a thing may be, say 'Lord, I am delighted to obey Thee in the matter.' " Applying this mindset to your life will be the hardest thing you have ever done, but if you force yourself to get into this habit, you will have no end of joy! I promise!! You will have replaced depression with exhileration; drudgery with adventure; disgruntledness (is that even a word?) with contentment!!

May 13: The Habit of a Good Conscience

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0512.html

"Is my ear so keen to hear the tiniest whisper of the Spirit that I know what I should do?....He does not come with a voice like thunder; His voice is so gentle that it is easy to ignore it."

May 11: You Won't Reach It On Tiptoe

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0511.html

The big question: Do we allow Jesus to use us to love those who are not at all lovable, but just because it is His nature to do so?

May 10: Take the Initiative

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0510.html

Did you ever hear anyone say, "I can't help it; that's just how I am."? That is true for people without Jesus, but I cringe whenever I hear a Christian say those words. As Chambers says, "We have to get into the habit of hearkening to God about everything, to form the habit of finding out what God says."

May 9: Grasp Without Reach

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/05o9.html

"Is our attitude today an attitude that springs from our vision of God? Are we expecting God to do greater things than He has ever done?"

May 8: The Patience of Faith

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0508.html

"...robust vigorous confidence..." It doesn't matter if you are in physical or mental pain, it is SO much easier to get through it when you are so absolutely positive that God is in control that every (sometimes painful) step is taken with that "robust vigorous confidence!"

May 7: Building for Eternity

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0505.html

Be forewarned! This lesson will inspire you to join Christ's Mission Impossible team and all of the adventures that await you, or will make you want to tuck your tail and run. Which will it be??

May 6: Liberty on the Abyss of the Gospel

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0506.html

Wow! What a perfect topic for me today! I have been recently praying for someone who is very anti-Christian because he hates to be told what to believe. Chambers advice is just what I needed: "Don't get impatient, remember how God dealt with you - with patience and with gentleness; but never water down the truth of God. ... Jesus said, "Go and make disciples," not "make converts to your opinions."

May 5: Judgment on the Abyss of Love

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0505.html Oh my! How very guilty I am of falling into the trap of trying to talk someone into salvation. That's not our job!! Only the Holy Spirit saves! Our job is just to naturally tell our story of life with God.

May 4: Vicarious Intercession

Today in My utmost for His HIghest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0504.html "Vicarious intercession means that we deliberately substitute God's interests in others for our natural sympathy with them." In other words, sometimes it is BEST for one to endure a time of hardship because the difficulty acts as a rudder to direct their life to where they are suppose to be.

May 3: Vital Intercession

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0503.html "...we may find that our obedience to God is going to cost other people more than we thought. ...It is not likely that sin will interfere with our relationship to God, but sympathy will ... which makes us say - 'I will not allow that thing to happen.' " Think of all the missionaries, past and present. Now try to imagine all the grief of all those families who were left behind -- family gatherings that were missed, weddings unattended, no opportunites to say goodbye to the loved ones who were dying. A missionary's decision to obey God costs his family dearly. In the same way, if we decide to obey God at all times, it will also cost our friends and family. We will inconvenience them, embarrass them, and at times abandon them if we are serious about our commitment to be God's hand to reach a lost and hurting world. Are we ready to accept that challenge?

May 1: Insight not Emotion

Today in My utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/05/0501.html All people tend to think that their troubles are the center of the universe. Only God can help us to spare others the details of our trials and "make us do our duty as obscure people." The paradox is that when He gets us to that place, we are amazed to find that our problems no longer have the significance they once did because God is all we want!!

April 30: The Spontaneity of Love

Today in My Utmost for His Highest: http://www.myutmost.org/04/0430.html We cannot expect to choose to love like I Corinthians 13 because "the springs of love are in God, not is us!" Always remember this: "...the springs of love are in the Holy Spirit." http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=I%20Corinthians%2013:%204-8;Romans%205:5;&version=51;
