September 4: His!
You have read today's lesson. Now, critique your internal response.
Do you feel uncomfortable or slightly rebellious at the idea that Jesus claims you as His possession, or do you feel loved and "at home" to know that He has bought you with a price? Are you still clutching any keys to specific kingdoms of your heart, or is your key-ring empty because you have transferred the title of ownership over to the Lord?
Either way, if you have asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins and trust Him with your life, you are still saved. However, only if you submit to being His possession will you get to live in the manor house as a joint-heir with Christ (Romans 8:17). Otherwise, although you are still living in His land, you are not sharing His bounty because you are living in the slums with the other serfs.
Jesus, I know how hard it was for me to let go of the control of my life and become Your slave for this earthly life. Thank You so much for being patient with me and wooing me to Yourself. Because I want their joy to be full (John 15:11), I pray for these dear children of my heart, that they will also be able to surrender everything to You. In so doing, may their lives radiate the love and joy that will spill over from their hearts regardless of the circumstances. And I thank You for giving me the gift of having them as a part of my life; they will never know how special that they are and how much joy they bring to me.
