September 22: The Missionary's Master

[Again, we are leaving town for a few days. I don't have much time to post this morning, so I will just go right to the important part - the prayer. Talk to you all when we get back!!]

Jesus, do we see You as You really are? Do we rebel against You at times because we think You are forcibly taking away our desires and "mastering" us? Forgive us, Lord, when we falsely accuse You because we have not taken the time to pour over Your scriptures and really learn who You are. Teach us more about what Chambers has explained in today's reading, that You are truly our loving Master who always knows what is best but will never force us to obey. Most importantly, (at least for me at this time) teach us to trust You even when circumstances seem impossible and our hearts are heavy with grief. Give us the courage to submit to both Your mercy (even when we don't think someone deserves it) and Your justice (even when it affects those we care deeply about.) By faith, I publicly proclaim that You are the Master, and that Your ways are always right. When we are in the midst of difficult circumstances, may we deliberately renew our commitment to You and pledge to You our undying love and allegiance.
